Make your first China route survive bad data and a language gap

Use a current multilingual map for live routing, but do not leave the destination trapped inside it. Save the same place as a Chinese address card and an offline screenshot that a driver or station worker can understand.

The three-layer map setup

Navigate: Amap in a supported language. Show: the destination name, full address and phone number in Chinese. Recover: an offline screenshot of the pin and first route.

Build one destination record you can actually show

Property name — Chinese
Ask the hotel or host for its official Chinese name
Full address — Chinese
Province or municipality · district · street · building
Phone number
A local front-desk or host number, including the area code when supplied
Map evidence
Saved pin plus a screenshot showing the entrance or pickup side
Booking reference
English property name and reservation number as a secondary reference

Copy the Chinese text from the property’s official message or booking details. Do not translate a street address yourself and assume the result points to the correct branch or entrance.

Prepare the first route before departure

  1. Install Amap from its official store listing.

Choose a supported language, allow only the location access you need and check that the map can find your arrival airport or station.

  2. Save the exact hotel, not only its English name.

Match the pin against the Chinese address and phone number from the property. Similar names and multiple branches are common failure points.

  3. Plan from the real arrival point.

Use the correct terminal, railway station or pickup zone. Save both the public-transport option and a road route when they are relevant.

  4. Capture the handoff.

Screenshot the pin, Chinese address and pickup instructions. Keep them in the photo library, not only inside a booking or messaging app.

  5. Repeat for the next essential destination.

Add the return station, second hotel or clinic only after the first-night path is complete. A small reliable set beats a long untested list.

Run a two-minute arrival test

  1. Turn off Wi-Fi.

Confirm the primary data connection can open the saved destination and calculate the route.

  2. Open the address without the booking app.

The Chinese name, address, phone number and screenshot should all be available from the photo library or offline note.

  3. Find the fallback pickup instruction.

Know the official taxi queue, public-transport counter or staffed help point if the live route or ride app fails.
